Digital Graffiti DSN

Brigham Young University-Idaho was going to offer a free Digital Graffiti Workshop, and they asked me to design a 30-second long DSN video to announce it. This is the design process I followed to create the graffiti on paper, Adobe Illustrator, and After Effects.

Sketches

This is how I decided the placement of my elements in the composition. I didn't know exactly how the elements would look like, but I worked on the composition first.

This sketch is probably the most important one because this word became the most important element in the final DSN. You can see how I just wrote the word, and then I played around using tag-style letters to inspire the graffiti.

Illustrator

I took a picture of my sketches and pasted them in illustrator. Once in Illustrator, I started to draw over the lines of my graffiti.

Using different colors helps me identify each shape because it can get very hard to identify single elements in a graffiti.

I started to play with colors that you will find in street art, murals, and graffiti.
